The map is not the territory.
When any group confuses the two, that's when trouble starts.
i know the bible has a lot of important lessons in it, but such a controversial book that is likely changed and such is quite a bit to live your life by.
i mean, how do you know that daniel wasn't a constant opium user?
or how do you know that the bible is complete?
The map is not the territory.
When any group confuses the two, that's when trouble starts.
then there is the always difficult matcup between superman, silver surfer, neo, and jehovah.
strengths: .
superman: really strong, really fast, loyal, x-ray vision, heat-beam vision.. jehovah: invisible, immortal, irradiates faces, can destroy entire cities (superman can also do this, but wouldn't of course), supposedly omnipotent and omniscient.
Not sure of the ending, but I bet it's a trilogy.
i believe they are "cultlike" but i don't think they are a "cult"........and you?
minimus, I don't think of them as a cult... but I don't believe in mind control, either. How do you reconcile your position in this thread, with your position in this thread?

Do you believe that "mind control" can be used by a religious group that is not a cult?
i believe they are "cultlike" but i don't think they are a "cult"........and you?
Actually, no, I don't, at least no more than any other religion. Now lots of people will inform me of books I should read and such... and then we get to go back to the great mind control debates...

well, the worst has happened..........the superintendent has recommended termination to the boe.
apparently she is concentrating on the statement i made about not having respect for her.
i'm numb.................the meeting will take place monday night..........that's where i guess i can go to plead my case.......?
Well, that really sucks.
When we reach the point that we really don't respect your boss, it's probably time to go - even though it feels awful, and I am so sorry that you feel that way. I ahve someone in my life who is in a very similar boat.
If you present yourself well and don't make things seem personal with the Supe when you talk to the BoE, it will probably keep you in the best spot for the future, even if it doesn't reverse the immediate situation.
Even if they see your side of things, if they are invested in making this Super work for a while, they probably won't make the Supe work with someone that has that kind of issue already... but who knows. Best of luck and keep us all apprised.
.
saw this woman on the news.....must get this book.. http://www.myrnablyth.com/pages/1/index.htm
No, nougat, it's not. What are you trying to say?
earlier a thread emerged, as they do so often, on whether or not god existed.
i stated that he does, unequivocally and without doubt.
i refused to preface the statement with the phrase "i believe".
I'm younger than you, Gumby!
has anybody seen the little photograph at the beginning of the study article in the september 15, 2003 watchtower (on page 10) about marriage?
i have scanned, annotated, and attached it here.
notice the large discrepancy between the eye levels depicted of the husband and wife.
Don't see it patio.

It looks as if many of us on this thread are guilty of violating posting guidelines 1, 2, and 3. Things are getting a bit too sideways...

Reminds me... there's a remake of The Stepford Wives coming out this summer.
Yes, I'm male, and I'm pained by it... because a bunch of teenage males are going to see this tripe and be molded by it (those without an ass-kicking mother like mine and who don't read Heinlein books as a preteen, anyway...)
Unfortunately, it's just one brick in the wall...
